International Patent Litigation Seminar – Focus UPC and United States
Join us at our live seminar for a dive into the current developments in international patent litigation in our Munich office.
We will provide a global outlook and discuss the latest relevant developments in the patent litigation arena. Our German Partners Dr. Steffen Steininger, Dr. Benjamin Schröer and Dr. Andreas Schmid will be joined by our US Partners Celine Crowson and Joseph Raffetto to answer any questions you might have.
This live seminar is free of charge.
We will discuss the following topics:
- Focus United States: Patent Litigation
- Trump v. Biden and the Future of US Patent and IP Policy – 2024 is an election year in the United States and appears to be another rematch of Trump and Biden. This part of the seminar will explore the differences between Trump and Biden in terms of patent and IP policy and how that may shape the landscape and impact German and European companies.
- Patent Prosecution Insights from US Patent Litigators – US patent litigators will often find creative ways to leverage the way patents are drafted during US litigation, leveraging, for example, copying of text and admissions on prior art. This part of the seminar will explore things that litigators will exploit from patents and provide associated insights on ways to improve the way patents are drafted.
- Litigation Financing in US Patent Disputes – Litigation financing continues to increase in patent disputes, with both patent owners and plaintiff firms leveraging it to bring lawsuits against German and European companies. This part of the seminar will provide an overview of this topic, as well as highlight some recent significant disputes involving patent litigation financing.
- Focus UPC: Takeaways from the first 300 days. The most significant revolution of the patent litigation system in Europe since more than 50 years has gone live when the Unified Patent Court (UPC) has opened its doors on 1 June 2023. We will discuss with you the core takeaways from these first 300 days based on the extensive experiences that our Germany partners have gained when litigating for our clients at this new court.
Afterwards we are happy to answer any questions, with enough time for professional exchange and networking during a light dinner and drinks.
