Hogan Lovells advises Prospector Baseball Group in acquisition of two minor league baseball teams
New York – Global law firm Hogan Lovells advised Prospector Baseball Group (“PBG”), a new platform building a modern, community-driven Minor League Baseball collective, in the acquisition of the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (Class AAA affiliate of the Miami Marlins) and the Akron RubberDucks (Class AA affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians).
PBG acquired both clubs from Ken Babby, the principal and founder of Fast Forward Sports Group in a single transaction that, following approval from Major League Baseball, closed on 9 December 2025.
This deal comes on the heels of the firm’s previous work with Prospector Baseball Group, advising the acquisition of the Lancaster Stormers baseball team. More information can be found here.
