Hogan Lovells announces DIGI25 winners as part of its firmwide digitalization program, DIGI
Washington, D.C., London, 8 May 2026 – Global law firm Hogan Lovells has announced the winners of its inaugural DIGI25 innovation competition, a firmwide initiative designed to surface digital ideas that will shape the future of legal service delivery. Nearly 100 submissions from 25 offices showcased the creativity, collaboration, and ambition driving the firm’s digitalization strategy.
DIGI25 forms part of DIGI, Hogan Lovells’ firmwide digitalization program, designed to strengthen how the firm delivers legal services through technology, data, and responsible AI. DIGI brings together three key components — Explore, Deliver, and Innovate — to support the responsible adoption of digital tools, streamline workflows, and build a confident, tech-enabled culture across the firm.
After a review by the judging panel, the Mexico City-based team behind BreachPilot was named the Grand Prize Winner. BreachPilot is an AI-powered tool designed to streamline cybersecurity incident response by automating guidance, document creation, and stakeholder alerts, enabling clients to act quickly, consistently and confidently during cyber incidents. The team will travel to Amsterdam to prototype the solution with colleagues in ELTEMATE’s innovation studio.
Given the strength and volume of submissions, the firm also presented two category awards:
- Legal Service Delivery: OCTOPUS – an AI-driven litigation management tool centralizing workflows and enhancing document comparison, work-product generation and budget visibility. (team led by counsel Benjamin Schulte).
- Business Operations: HL Lens – an AI knowledge hub using the firm’s Smart Database to make Learning & Development Library content easier to search, use and share, with tools to quickly find information and support drafting. (team led by junior conflicts analyst Leyla Aptoulach).
Mark Brennan, Global Managing Partner for Digitalization at Hogan Lovells, said: “Our DIGI initiative was created to unlock the bold ideas already emerging across our global team. What impressed me most is how many ideas in this competition originated directly from the people closest to our clients and our work. BreachPilot and our category winners show exactly why we launched DIGI25: to elevate practical innovations and turn them into solutions that strengthen how we deliver legal services. This is just one part of building the digitally enabled firm our clients expect and our people deserve.”
Sebastian Lach, partner at Hogan Lovells and Co-CEO of ELTEMATE, said: “DIGI25 shows what happens when you give great people the space to innovate. Our job at ELTEMATE is to take the strongest ideas and turn them into working solutions that deliver real impact for clients and our teams. BreachPilot, OCTOPUS, and HL Lens are powerful examples of that in action.”
Guillermo Larrea on the BreachPilot team, said: “Cyber incidents demand speed, clarity, and confidence — BreachPilot was born from seeing firsthand how challenging that can be for clients. DIGI25 gave us a platform to turn an idea into something tangible, with the potential to make real impact. BreachPilot’s tool will allow to consolidate action by stakeholders, assess reporting obligations, and simplify notification processes. We’re excited to take the next step with ELTEMATE and bring this solution to life."
The competition is one strand of Hogan Lovells’ global digitalization strategy to build digital skills across the firm, modernize legal delivery through technology, and foster a culture of innovation where ideas are shared, tested, and scaled.
