Ken has a broad range of experience in M&A, government investigations, litigation, compliance programs, and other complex competition issues and counsels clients in various industries in addition to health care, including retail, consumer products, packaged foods, telecommunications, manufacturing, transportation, energy, and more.
Ken spent six years at the FTC, where he served as Counsel to the Director of the Bureau of Competition and as lead attorney on significant FTC investigations and litigated merger challenges. He began his career with the Antitrust Division of the DOJ before joining a major international law firm as an associate in 2002.
Ken is widely recognized for his leadership in complex healthcare and antitrust matters. He has been recommended by Who’s Who Legal, The Best Lawyers in America, and Legal500 for his proficiency handling major merger reviews and for his merger defense work in the health care sector, where he has been described as a collaborative and creative thinker who brings a rare combination of client service and government experience. He has also been named a Law360 Health Law MVP for his work on high‑profile merger and litigation matters. In 2025, Ken was honored for his role as a key partner on a Sec. 363 Sale of the Year (over $100 million) transaction as an M&A advisor.
An active member of the American Health Lawyers Association and the American Bar Association’s Antitrust and Health Care Law Sections, Ken frequently speaks and publishes on significant antitrust and healthcare issues.
Representing Texas Children’s Hospital in its proposed joint venture with MD Anderson Cancer Center uniting the nation’s leading comprehensive pediatric system and a top pediatric cancer program.
Represented Orlando Health in its US$439m acquisition of Steward Health “Space Coast” hospitals out of bankruptcy.
Representing UNC Health in its joint venture with Duke Health to develop, own and operate a new, freestanding, state-of-the-art children’s hospital.
Represented Henry Ford Health System in its acquisition of several Ascension system hospitals in Michigan and the creation of a new joint venture entity to operate the combined system.
Representing Oregon Health & Science University in its proposed merger with the Legacy Health system.
