Josh Gelula advises clients on international trade and investment matters, including customs, export controls, economic sanctions, and foreign investment reviews conducted by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS).

Josh has more than a decade of experience counseling clients on all regulatory matters under the jurisdiction of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), U.S. economic sanctions programs, laws and regulations administered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and other regulations impacting international trade. He has significant experience assisting companies in assessing, designing, auditing and enhancing their trade compliance programs, particularly as it relates to supply chain compliance, export controls, sanctions, customs compliance (e.g., valuation, tariff classification, country of origin, preferential tariff treatment) and conducting post-entry and post-export reviews. His specific transactional guidance and compliance program assessments, designs, and implementations are informed by his diverse experience as in-house counsel for an international telecommunications company and as a global trade consultant in a large international accounting firm. He frequently advises clients as well as corporate and regulatory colleagues on export controls, customs and CFIUS-related due diligence reviews and/or filings related to corporate M&A transactions.

Josh has worked extensively with clients across a range of industries, including automotive, aviation, defense, oil and gas, telecommunications, consumer products, food, beverages, life sciences, and heavy machinery.  He has worked with clients across these industries to assess, enhance and implement their compliance policies and procedures, including close collaboration on implementation within clients' IT systems.  He shares his in-depth industry understanding by speaking and writing on the topics of international trade
