AI-washing – when AI hype becomes a litigation risk

She represents major airlines, emerging carriers, aerospace companies, MROs, travel technology platforms, and investors on regulatory strategy, operating authorizations, codesharing and alliance arrangements, and enforcement matters before the DOT, FAA, TSA, DOJ, and CBP. She also focuses on emerging aviation and aerospace companies, including Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) entities. Laura brings nearly two decades of experience in government and private practice. Before entering the private sector, she served as a Senior Trial Attorney in the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Office of the General Counsel and as a Staff Attorney in the FAA’s Office of the Chief Counsel, where she led investigations related to aviation safety and consumer protection issues, drafted key rulemakings, and litigated enforcement actions, including appeals before multiple U.S. Courts of Appeals.
She is recognized consistently by Chambers USA (Aviation: Regulatory – Nationwide) and The Legal 500 for her work in aviation regulation. She is a board member of the Aero Club of Washington, D.C. and serves on the Advisory Committee of the ABA Air & Space Law Forum.
Advised major international airlines on aviation matters, including licensing, route proceedings, antitrust applications, and joint ventures. *
Counsel commercial airlines on internal audits, training, and compliance programs in connection with DOT passenger disability and aviation consumer protection requirements.
Assist UAS companies with FAA regulatory requirements, waivers, and processes.
Represented commercial airlines and cargo operators before the DOT, FAA, CBP, and TSA, including in connection with significant investigations and enforcement matters. *
Represented investors in connection with acquisition of aviation-related companies, including MROs, FBOs, and OEM companies. *
Represented investors in connection with investments in and ownership/control of U.S. air carriers under DOT air carrier citizenship requirements. *
