Matthew is a disputes Partner in the Global Product Law practice, a member of our Class and Collective Actions Core Team, and co‑chair of our London life sciences team. He advises clients on complex consumer, product liability, ESG and commercial disputes across highly regulated sectors, with a particular focus on the life sciences and automotive industries. Known for his strategic, commercial approach, Matthew regularly guides global businesses through high‑profile and technically challenging litigation and collective actions, often involving reputational, scientific and regulatory issues.

He has acted on some of the most prominent collective actions brought in England, defending clients in multi‑party, cross‑border disputes. His experience includes supporting a leading pharmaceutical company in product liability litigation and a related regulatory investigation following the withdrawal of a major product; defending a biotech company in a claim against a CRO concerning a large Phase III clinical trial; and acting for automotive manufacturers in the Pan‑NOx diesel emissions litigation. Matthew has also advised on Group Actions involving Vioxx, Blood Products, All Metal Hips, Niger Delta Oil Spills, workers’ rights issues in Africa and diesel emissions claims.

Beyond contentious matters, Matthew provides ongoing litigation risk management advice, including on coronial inquests, crisis response, product safety issues, and regulatory investigations and prosecutions. His ability to navigate scientific evidence, commercial priorities and procedural complexity makes him a trusted adviser to companies facing high‑stakes disputes.
