Philip is head of our UK tax practice team and advises a broad range of clients on their most difficult tax issues. He has particular experience with finance transactions including securitisation.  He advises international corporates on transactions ranging from acquisitions and mergers to group reorganisations.

Philip is active in the tax community.  He is the Chair of the City of London Law Society’s Revenue Committee in which role he has led responses to a number of tax consultations as well as being on TheCityUK and Law Society tax committees.

Advising Monument Re Limited on the transfer of a legacy life reinsurance portfolio to RGA Americas Reinsurance Company, Ltd for a consideration of approximately €200m

Advising Metro Bank Holdings PLC on the issuance of its inaugural £250m 13.875 per cent. fixed rate reset perpetual subordinated contingent convertible capital securities 

Prax Exploration & Production Limited (in administration) and the administrators on the pre-pack deal to sell its entire UK North Sea upstream oil and gas business to Serica Energy plc

Advising Brookfield Infrastructure on its disposal of 49% of PD Ports to Pontegadea

Advising The UK Government’s Department for Business and Trade on the proposed £3.6bn cash takeover of Royal Mail parent company, International Distribution Services plc, by the EP Group

Advising FCE Bank PLC on the securitisation of UK consumer auto loan receivables and in relation to similar securitisations in other European jurisdictions
