Significant changes to the UK's collective redundancy rules are on the horizon. From 6 April, the maximum protective award for failing to consult will double to 180 days' actual pay per affected employee, and further reforms are expected in 2027, broadening when collective consultation is required, including in certain multi‑site redundancy scenarios.

In this instalment of Employment Bite, London employment lawyers Ed Bowyer and Alice Whitehead discuss what these changes mean in practice and how organisations can start preparing for what's ahead.
