AI-washing – when AI hype becomes a litigation risk
Ruud van der Velden

Languages
English, Dutch, German
Ruud has an excellent track record in complicated cases. Examples include obtaining a cross-border patent infringement injunction at a time this was considered impossible, successfully enforcing a second medical use patent that was revoked in almost every other jurisdiction, and seizing evidence in a logistical warehouse in the Netherlands in absence of a patent in force in the Netherlands, which evidence was pivotal in securing injunctions in Germany. The latter is a good example of how Ruud works together with his patent litigation colleagues in other countries in order to develop an overall winning strategy.
Ruud received the Patent Practitioner of the Year Award by Managing IP in 2024. He has also received the Gouden Zandloper award (2008), the VIE Award for best IP publication (2011) and Client Choice Awards for Trade Secrets (2018) and Patents (2019). Ruud is recommended by Chambers Global & Europe, Legal 500, JUVE, LMG, MIP, Who's Who Legal and IAM Patent 1000.
