AI-washing – when AI hype becomes a litigation risk

Over more than a dozen years, Allison has represented companies facing shareholder litigation, including securities class actions under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and the Securities Act of 1933, derivative suits, M&A litigation, and internal and special commitee investigations. These matters have involved a wide variety of clients, including companies in the consumer, pharmaceutical, digital advertising, chemical, financial, and communications industries. Allison regularly handles parallel government investigations by the Securities and Exchange Commission as well as the Department of Justice. In addition, Allison focuses on ESG-related issues, both generally and in the securities class action context.
Allison also defends financial institutions in civil litigations involving complex financial products, including credit default and interest rate swaps, commercial mortgage-backed securities, hedge-fund linked derivatives, and reverse repurchase agreements.
On a pro bono basis, Allison has sought and secured asylum for individuals fleeing persecution and worked on amicus briefs on a vareity of issues in partnership with organizations like the ACLU.
