Casey Servais advises creditors, debtors, and other institutional stakeholders on complex financial restructurings, including Chapter 11 and municipal bankruptcy proceedings. He supports clients in navigating high-stakes and often precedent-setting insolvency situations across a range of sectors and jurisdictions.

His practice includes advising on large-scale municipal restructurings, including matters arising under PROMESA, as well as commercial restructurings across industries such as structured finance, energy, shipping, automotive, retail and senior living. He also advises on derivatives-related issues in insolvency, cross-border restructurings and claims trading transactions.

Casey has played a key role in some of the most significant restructuring matters in the market, providing strategic and commercially focused advice in complex and evolving situations.

Casey also advises financial institutions on bankruptcy-related issues, including close-out netting, safe harbours and derivatives enforcement, and supporting clients in managing risk in distressed and default scenarios.

Advising a major creditor and prospective DIP lender in the Chapter 9 bankruptcy of the City of Detroit.
Advising a major creditor in the Chapter 11 cases of Radioshack Corporation.
Advising a monoline insurer in the voluntary and involuntary Chapter 11 cases of the Zohar CLOs.
Advising Amsterdam House Continuing Care Retirement Community in its prepackaged Chapter 11 restructuring.
Advising a secured creditor and DIP lender in the Chapter 11 case of Marco Polo Seatrade BV.
Advising a syndicate of first-lien bank lenders in the comprehensive balance sheet recapitalization of Eagle Bulk Shipping.
Advising banks and institutional clients on bankruptcy close-out netting of derivatives and Bankruptcy Code safe harbors, with particular expertise in municipal counterparty netting analysis.
Advising clients on the negotiation and documentation of bankruptcy claims sales, including development of innovative liquidity-enhancing structures.

Advising the largest single creditor in the ResCap reorganization, a major MBS sponsor described by the presiding judge as the most legally and factually complex case he had overseen.
